Adults in Scouting

Adults in Scouting

Scouting is not reserved only for young people. In scouting there is a big number of adults that support young development and help organise certain activities, adults that are part of all social classes, that help the organization on their field of expertise. Though, the thing they have in common is the joy of helping young people to achieve their potential.
According to ONCR state, adults are named „leaders” and are over 21 years old.

None of these leaders are paid,  they are volunteers and some of them have a family and a full time job.

The leaders get involved because they want to have fun, make new friends and they don’t have to be „superheroes”, to know everything. They are trained for what they will do and learn on the way. Energy is the thing that unites the leaders and their enthusiasm for giving the children the adventure of Scouting.

While all our volunteers  are passionate of what they are doing, many of them just help occasionally because of other engagements. Some might help once a week or once in a few days meanwhile others help once a semester or in a summer camp.

There are volunteers that get involved because their children are members and even if they have not been scouts in their youth, they now have the chance to learn new things and make new friends.

Not all adults that volunteer in scouting work with children. There is a large variety of things that need to be done such as planning the events, bookkeeping, writing and projects’ management or newspaper articles. This means that all leaders that work directly with kids don’t have to spend all their time filling questionnaires.

Everybody has something to offer

Maybe you think you don’t have useful skills for Scouting – but everybody has something to offer. Any help is welcome. Do you have hobbies you want to share? For example, do you have a first-aid certificate and you could unwind an interactive course or do you like nature and you could take your patrol on a fun walk through the forests nearby?

If you don’t have time in the afternoon when the patrols meet, could you use your skills from your workplace and help a few hours a month? Stop thinking and join the biggest youth movement in the world!

What can you gain from volunteering

Scouting volunteering is fun and fully rewarding. You will have the chance to learn new things, to rediscover adventure, to make new friends, to spend more time with your child if he/she’s a scout and give something back to the community you live in.
